Every year, Pitra Paksha holds deep spiritual significance in Sanatan Dharma. It is a sacred fortnight when families honor and remember their ancestors through Shraddha and Tarpan rituals. In 2025, Pitra Paksha begins on 7th September, coinciding with Bhadrapada Poornima (Full Moon) — and this year, it opens under the powerful energy of a Full Lunar Eclipse.

What is Pitra Paksha?
Pitra Paksha, also known as Shraddha Paksha, is a 15-day period dedicated to offering prayers, food, and gratitude to our departed ancestors (Pitrs). According to Vedic belief, during this time, the veil between realms becomes thin, and ancestral souls bless their descendants who remember them with sincerity and devotion.
It is believed that performing Shraddha during Pitra Paksha helps release karmic debts (Pitra Rin) and brings harmony, peace, and prosperity to the family.

The Unique Energy of 2025: Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse
This year, the beginning of Pitra Paksha aligns with a Full Moon (Poornima) and a Total Lunar Eclipse.
Full Moon Symbolism: Represents completion, fulfillment, and illumination.
Lunar Eclipse Effect: A time of karmic revelations, hidden truths, and spiritual cleansing.
Together, these cosmic events magnify the power of ancestral rituals. It’s a reminder that letting go of old karmic patterns and honoring our roots is essential for personal and spiritual growth.

Remedies During Eclipse & Pitra Paksha
Since a Lunar Eclipse begins this sacred period, some remedies can help amplify blessings and reduce karmic burdens:
Chant “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” or Gayatri Mantra during the eclipse.
Offer water mixed with black sesame seeds to ancestors.
Light a diya with cow ghee at home and pray for ancestral peace.
Practice forgiveness and let go of old grudges — this is the greatest Shraddha of all.

This period is not of fear but of gratitude. By honoring them, we align with our roots, heal family karma, and step into a more harmonious future.
