What’s a conspiracy theory you actually find believable?

🤫 Blog of the Day: What’s a Conspiracy Theory You Actually Find Believable?

I’m not saying aliens are running the government. 👽
I’m not saying the moon landing was filmed in somebody’s basement. 🌙
And I’m definitely not checking whether my neighbour is secretly a time traveller.

But there is one “conspiracy theory” that feels a little too believable…

📱 The Internet Knows Us Better Than We Think

Have you ever casually talked about something and then suddenly started seeing ads for it everywhere?

You tell your friend:

“I really need new shoes.”

Five minutes later…

Instagram: SHOES!
YouTube: BEST SHOES OF 2026!
Google: SHOES YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED!
Random website: Himani, these shoes were MADE FOR YOU. 😳

And you’re sitting there thinking:

“Okay… WHO invited the internet into this conversation?” 😂

Now, your phone doesn’t necessarily need to secretly listen to every conversation to create this creepy feeling.

Our searches, clicks, location patterns, shopping behaviour, videos we watch, posts we pause on and accounts we interact with already reveal a ridiculous amount about us.

Sometimes technology can predict what we might want before we consciously realise we want it.

And THAT is somehow even creepier. 😂

🧠 But Here’s the Part I Find More Interesting…

I think algorithms may influence us far more than we realise.

We believe:

“I discovered this trend.”

Meanwhile the algorithm is sitting somewhere like:

“No sweetheart. I showed it to you seventeen times until you liked it.” 😎

A song becomes popular.

A fashion trend explodes.

Suddenly everyone is discussing the same relationship topic.

A product becomes a “must-have.”

And we assume millions of people independently decided:

“Yes! THIS is what I love now!”

But sometimes what becomes popular is simply what gets shown repeatedly.

That raises an interesting question:

Are we choosing what we like…

or are we sometimes learning to like what keeps appearing in front of us?

👀

😂 My Favourite Mini-Conspiracy

Sometimes I genuinely believe my phone knows when I’m trying to save money.

The moment I decide:

“This month I am NOT shopping.”

My feed suddenly becomes:

✨ 70% off
✨ Last 2 pieces remaining
✨ Flash sale ends tonight
✨ Free delivery
✨ “People with excellent taste bought this”

Excuse me.

Who told you I was trying to become financially responsible? 😂

🌿 The Bigger Message

Not every mysterious coincidence needs a conspiracy behind it.

But it is worth becoming more conscious about what influences our choices.

Before buying something, believing something or joining the latest trend, occasionally ask yourself:

“Do I genuinely want this… or have I simply seen it 25 times today?”

Because protecting your peace isn’t only about avoiding negative people.

Sometimes it also means protecting your attention.

And in today’s world…

your attention might be one of your most valuable possessions.

So yes, my believable conspiracy theory is:

Maybe the algorithm knows exactly how easily humans can be influenced.

And somewhere, my phone is probably reading this and preparing an ad for a digital detox retreat. 😂📱🌿

Now tell me—what conspiracy theory secretly makes you think, “Wait… this one might actually be true”? 👀
