Have You Ever Regretted Reading a Book?
Book: Paradise Towers by Shweta Bachchan-Nanda
As a reader, I usually believe that no book is completely wasted. Every story gives us something—a new thought, an emotion, a memorable character, or at least a different perspective.
But once in a while, you finish a book and think:
“Did I really spend all that time reading this?” 😄
For me, Paradise Towers by Shweta Bachchan-Nanda was one such reading experience.
The book revolves around the residents of an apartment building called Paradise Towers and their everyday lives, relationships, secrets, friendships, family equations, and little neighbourhood dramas.
The concept itself had potential. A residential building filled with different personalities can create wonderful humour, emotional moments, conflicts, and interesting human stories.
Unfortunately, the book never completely pulled me into its world.
There were several characters and situations, but I found it difficult to become emotionally invested in most of them. At times, the story felt slow, and I kept waiting for something more engaging or memorable to happen.
The biggest problem for me was that I kept reading with the hope that the story would eventually surprise me.
And then…the book ended.
That was my little “Wait, that’s it?” moment. 😄
Of course, reading is extremely subjective. A book that does not connect with one reader may become another reader’s comfort read. Some people may enjoy the simple observations of everyday apartment life and the light social humour.
But personally, Paradise Towers left me wanting much more—stronger characters, deeper emotions, sharper humour, and a storyline that made me eager to turn the next page.
My Reader Thought of the Day 📚
Not every book we finish has to become a favourite.
Sometimes a disappointing book also teaches us something important:
It helps us understand exactly what kind of storytelling we truly enjoy.
And perhaps that is the one thing I don’t regret about reading Paradise Towers. 😉
Now tell me—have you ever finished a book and immediately thought, “I want my reading hours back”? Which book was it, and why?
