What’s the Best Advice You’d Give to Someone Younger Than You?
If I could sit across from my younger self—or anyone just beginning to understand life—I wouldn’t give a long lecture.
I would simply say:
Don’t rush your life trying to prove that you are doing well.
When we are young, we often believe we need to have everything figured out quickly—a successful career, the perfect relationship, financial stability, confidence, and a clear life plan.
But life rarely follows a straight line.
Some of your biggest lessons will come from things that didn’t work out.
A job you desperately wanted may teach you what you truly value.
A relationship you thought would last forever may teach you boundaries, self-respect, and emotional strength.
A failure may quietly redirect you toward something far better.
And sometimes, the period when you feel completely lost is actually the beginning of finding yourself.
So here is the advice I would give:
Trust your timing.
Stop comparing your Chapter 3 with someone else’s Chapter 15.
Learn to say no without feeling guilty.
Choose people who choose you too.
Save some money, but also create memories.
Take care of your body before it starts demanding your attention.
Apologise when you are wrong—but never apologise for having healthy boundaries.
And most importantly, don’t spend years trying to convince someone of your worth.
The right people will not require endless proof.
Life becomes lighter when you stop chasing approval and start listening to your own inner voice.
You will make mistakes. You will change your mind. You will outgrow people, dreams, habits, and even versions of yourself.
That is not failure.
That is growth.
One day, you may look back and realise that the things you once cried over were actually guiding you toward the person you were meant to become.
So live fully.
Love deeply—but wisely.
Learn continuously.
Forgive yourself often.
And remember:
You don’t have to have your whole life figured out. You only need enough courage to take the next honest step.
Thought for the Day
“Don’t rush to become who you think you should be. Give yourself time to discover who you truly are.”
