How do you make time for self-care?
How Do You Make Time for Self-Care?
Life can get busy very quickly. Between work, family, relationships, responsibilities, phone calls, messages and endless to-do lists, self-care is often the first thing we postpone.
We tell ourselves, “I’ll rest when everything is finished.”
But the truth is—everything is rarely finished.
Self-care is not something we need to earn after being productive. It is something that helps us stay emotionally, mentally and physically balanced while handling everyday life.
Self-Care Doesn’t Have to Take Hours
When we hear the word self-care, we sometimes imagine a spa day, vacation or an entire day away from responsibilities.
That can be wonderful, but everyday self-care can be much simpler.
It can be:
- Drinking your morning tea peacefully without checking your phone.
- Taking a 10-minute walk.
- Listening to your favourite music.
- Sitting quietly and breathing deeply.
- Reading a few pages of a book.
- Chanting, praying or meditating.
- Saying “no” when you genuinely don’t have the energy.
- Eating something nourishing instead of skipping a meal.
- Going to sleep a little earlier.
- Talking to someone who makes you feel safe and understood.
Small moments matter.
Put Yourself on Your Own Schedule
We somehow find time for meetings, appointments, deadlines and other people’s needs. Why not schedule a little time for ourselves too?
Even 15–20 minutes every day can become your personal recharge time.
Treat it like an appointment with yourself.
You don’t have to be available to everyone every minute of the day.
Ask Yourself: What Do I Need Today?
Self-care doesn’t look the same every day.
Some days you may need motivation.
Some days you may need silence.
Some days you may need company.
And some days, you may simply need rest.
Instead of asking, “What should I be doing?” try asking:
“What would make me feel a little better today?”
Listen to the answer without judging it.
Stop Feeling Guilty for Resting
Rest is not laziness.
Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean that you are ignoring other people. In fact, when you are emotionally exhausted, constantly stressed or running on empty, it becomes harder to give your best to anyone—including yourself.
You don’t need to wait until you are completely drained before taking a break.
Today’s Self-Care Reminder 🌿
You don’t need to change your entire routine today.
Just choose one small thing that feels good for your mind, body or soul and make time for it.
Ten peaceful minutes are better than waiting for the perfect free day that may never arrive.
Self-care is not about escaping your life. It is about creating a life in which you also have space for yourself.
So today, ask yourself:
“What can I do for myself today—not because I have to, but because I deserve my own time too?”
Love & Light,
